Rock the Foundation

The Greater Killeen Young Professionals will hold a benefit concert called “Rock the Foundation” that will raise money for scholarships for Texas A&M Central Texas on January 30th, 2010.

TAMU-CT Executive Director, Dr. Garry Ross, explained to our group that the number one priority for our benefit concert should be scholarships.  More scholarships mean more potential students and more students leads to more state funding.

Recent enrollment figures showed that 55% of enrolled students were taking classes at Ft. Hood.  Therefore, scholarship funds raised will not only help a student receive a higher education and grow the university; it will more than likely help a soldier or a soldier’s family.

Here are the details of the concert:

Name:  Rock the Foundation

Date: January 30th, 2010 – the week before the Superbowl but after the NFC/AFC championship games

Time:  7 PM – Midnight

Venue:  Killeen Civic & Conference Center (Capacity of about 1,500) - we rented the entire ballroom with a 32′ x 40′ stage.  They will also be providing tables and chairs that will line the outside of the room leaving the middle open for people to dance and enjoy the music near the stage. KCCC will also provide 6 fully stocked bars and we will have a local vendor selling concession style food.

Bands:  Steering South (Rock), Wild Horses (Country, Folk, and Southern Rock), and Sprung (80′s Rock and Pop).
